History
The Hispanic Heritage Club of Hinesville was established in 1991 by a dedicated group of retired and active-duty military personnel seeking to create a space for cultural celebration and community support. First founded by SFC Angel Sanabria and current President, first Sergeant (retired) Pablo Rodriguez. The organization has remained dedicated in its mission to uplift and empower the Hispanic and Latine populations in Hinesville and the surrounding areas. Rodriguez, who has been an integral part of the club since its inception, continues to inspire its members with his unwavering commitment to preserving cultural traditions and fostering a sense of unity among Liberty county.
Over the years, the Hispanic Heritage Club has played a vital role in promoting cultural awareness and inclusion. One of its signature programs is the Folkloric Dance Program, which highlights the diverse and vibrant traditions of Hispanic and Latine cultures through performances that showcase traditional music and dance. This program has not only enriched local cultural events but has also served as a bridge to educate and connect the broader community with the heritage of Latin America.
The club has led numerous initiatives to provide educational resources, cultural events, and support for families in need, particularly during times of crisis. By fostering collaborations with local governments, businesses, and other organizations, the club has continued to address the unique needs of the Hispanic/Latine communities and contribute to the overall well-being of Hinesville, GA.
A defining moment in the club’s history came in 2024, when the Mayor of Hinesville signed a proclamation officially recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month. This recognition proved pivotal as it aligned with the first-ever Hispanic Heritage Festival, an event conceived, organized, and hosted by the Hispanic Heritage Club of Hinesville. The festival, held in downtown Hinesville, was a landmark achievement, bringing together the community to celebrate Hispanic and Latine cultures through music, dance, food, and much more. It was an unforgettable moment for the club, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing mission to uplift and celebrate the vibrant traditions of Hispanic and Latine populations.
As the organization looks to the future, it remains focused on increasing its events, growing its volunteer base, and pursuing new opportunities to serve and strengthen the community. With a commitment to its mission, the club is excited for the opportunities that lie ahead and is determined to continue making a positive and lasting impact on the Hispanic and Latine communities in Hinesville and beyond.
